Brooklyn woman gets 15 years of jail for stabbing brother’s girlfriend over $20 diaper debt

A Brooklyn woman will land 15 years behind bars for fatally stabbing her brother’s girlfriend over a $20 debt over diapers, prosecutors said today.

Kayla Henriques, 20, pleaded guilty to manslaughter Wednesday in Brooklyn Supreme Court to stabbing Kamisha Richardson, 22, in an East New York apartment in 2011.

Henriques was charged with murder and could have gotten life in prison if she was convicted at trial.

Friends and relatives of Richardson and Henriques said after the slaying that the longtime friends had fallen out over money that Richardson had lent Henriques to buy diapers for her baby.

Richardson became upset when she learned that Henriques had used the money to buy other items and had yet to pay her back, according to friends.

The two took their dispute to Facebook, where they traded stinging snipes for two days before Henriques plunged a steak knife into Richardson’s chest.

Henriques will be sentenced Aug. 21.
