CBS tees up big Masters numbers

VICTORY: Adam Scott celebrates at the Masters.

Underdog Adam Scott’s come-from-behind victory in Sunday’s Masters tournament drove CBS to hole-in-one ratings.

Scott’s victory, achieved when he beat Argentina’s Angel Cabrera in an extra-holes playoff, sparked CBS to a 10.2 rating — up a whopping 26 percent from last year’s Masters final, according to Nielsen overnight data.

Sunday’s Masters final peaked with a 13.4 rating from 7 to 7:30 p.m., when nearly 18 million people tuned in to watch the thrilling finish at Augusta National.

On Saturday, CBS also scored big, averaging a 6.3 rating, which was up 24 percent from last year’s Saturday Masters coverage.

Final numbers will be available today.

Scott, 32, who was born in Adelaide, became the first Australian to win the Masters tournament in its 77-year history.

Scott almost won the 2012 British Open, but bogeyed the last four holes, blowing a four-shot lead and losing to Ernie Els.
