Soap queen Jeanne Cooper’s touching ‘Y&R’ sendoff

Soap star Jeanne Cooper, who passed away last week, will get a touching tribute from her “The Young and the Restless” colleagues in a special episode airing later this month.

The tribute episode will feature cast members, friends and family reminiscing about Cooper, who played Katherine Chancellor on “Y&R” for over 39 years.

The episode, airing May 28 (12:30 p.m./Ch. 2), will be taped this week on the show’s set in LA.

Cooper, 84, was the mother of “LA Law” star Corbin Bernsen and his siblings, actors Collin Bernsen and Caren Bernsen. She died last Wednesday from an undisclosed illness.

Cooper’s autobiography, “Not Young, Still Restless,” was published earlier this year.

Before her soap career, Cooper appeared on many TV shows, including “Perry Mason,” “Have Gun, Will Travel” and “The Big Valley.”
