A trooper gave chase as Soto flew across the Tappan Zee Bridge into Rockland County, where he left the highway and continued speeding through Nyack and into Clarkstown.

Soto came to a dead-end near Nyack Beach State Park, but pulled a sudden U-turn and drove south in the northbound lane of North Broadway, colliding head-on with the pursuing trooper.

After crashing the Saab, Soto fled on foot but was overtaken by another trooper after a 100-yard sprint.

The crazed suspect allegedly punched and fought with the trooper, trying to grab his gun and taser before Clarkstown cops arrived and were able to subdue him.

Troopers searched the Saab and found about nine grams of heroin, two grams of cocaine and prescription Clonazepam pills.

Soto was arraigned on a slew of charges, including felony counts of reckless endangerment and assault as well as drug possession and motor vehicle charges.

The troopers involved in the accident and struggle were taken to Nyack Hospital where they were treated and released.

Soto was remanded to the Rockland County Jail without bond.
