HAUTE LIST

A SCHOULER THING

EXPECT more than the usual crush at the Canal Street subway stop tomorrow when well-heeled but cash-poor New York fashion girls flock to the nearby boutique Opening Ceremony to scoop up Proenza Schouler for $40 to $140.

The trendy shop, famous for stocking TopShop, United Bamboo and Acne, is clearing out the entire store for four days to make way for Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez’s new cheap-but-chic clothes, the fifth installment of Target’s GO International initiative.

“We designed this collection for the girls who love Proenza Schouler, but maybe it’s out of their budget,” McCollough says.

“Fashion is so much about mixing high and low, and it was nice to explore the other end. We were excited to create a line that our friends could afford – but also excited to reach an entirely new group of customers.”

Manhattan fashionistas will be able to score the designing duo’s entire 70-piece New York-meets-Miami line, including a casual turquoise and white palm-print gauze skirt ($25); a sexy silk wrap palm-print dress (pictured, $40); and a chain-print canvas handbag ($40) at the downtown store.

Target stores and target.com will receive the goods in installments over the next 90 days.

“We looked at the collection as a ‘best of’ of our past seasons – bold prints and structured silhouettes,” McCollough says. “And we love that you can get a signature Proenza Schouler look – the silk bustier with detailing – for $49.99 (pictured).”

Get behind blue eyes

ANGELINA Jolie, Jennifer Lopez (pictured) and Eva Longoria have a serious case of the blues. How can we tell? It’s all in the eyes.

Blue eye shadow is making a statement on the red carpet, and those glamour girls are just a few of the many stars seen sashaying into movie premieres and award shows with azure, aqua and even indigo eyes.

“Celebrities have totally stepped away from safe basic brown and are wearing different shades of blue – whether it be light or dark,” says Andrea Walker, color expert for Sephora.

“Keira Knightley recently wore a beautiful shade, and now people are coming in and asking for it,” she adds.

Interested in getting blue in the face? Walker also suggests:

* Urban Decay: “Adore,” $17.

* Nars: “Night Flight,” $21. “Nars is one of our most popular sellers.”

* Make Up For Ever: “Nave Blue 60,” $18. “Looks especially gorgeous on anyone with an olive skin tone.”

* Shisedio: “Winter Carnival,” $21. “It’s the best color for darker hair,” Walker says.

Obsessions of the week

* POOR BUT FABULOUS: Broke, orphaned and completely unable to afford fine French fashion, Coco Chanel decided to ignore the voluminous frilly, corseted styles that were au courant and made up her own. “Different Like Coco” by Elizabeth Matthews captures Chanel’s quick wit, needle-sharp attention to detail and amazing self-determination in a new kid’s book that has the best message ever: It’s OK to be different. Plus, we love the adorable illustrations, especially the one of a teeny, tiny Coco stuffing her bra. The book hits stores later this month.

* GET CHEEKY: For cute and comfortable, check out American Eagle’s Aerie Valentine Cheeky Set ($19.50), a trio of cotton panties that say “Friday, I’m in Love,” “Saturday, What’s Mine Is Yours,” and “Sunday, Last Chance,” all packaged in a heart-shaped box. Or score Gap (Product) Red three-packs of super-soft low-rise hipsters that say Inspi(red), Admi(red) and Desi(red) on the back ($28).

* EYE SPY: French women don’t get fat – and they’re always impeccably dressed, tressed and made up. Here’s a little help for the Gallically challenged: Bourjois Petit Guide de Style is an eye shadow and liner duo packaged in a tres adorable little booklet that comes with step-by-step directions, mirror and applicator. The style folders ($16) are available in six shades at Sephora. And stop by the mobile Bourjois lip clinic parked outside the tents at Bryant Park on Saturday, Sunday and Monday for free lip products.
