CELLPHONE-CASE COP IN TROUBLE

The NYPD is weighing disciplinary charges against a sergeant for failing to keep a cop assigned to a Brooklyn home where a cache of stolen cellphones vanished, authorities said.

The eight-year veteran, who has not been identified, has been questioned for allegedly not keeping a cop posted at the East 56th Street home in East Flatbush where an estimated 70 stolen Sidekick cellphones disappeared Feb. 16 before cops could vouch for them.

The Post reported yesterday that the cellphones, worth an estimated $28,000, are at the center of an identity-theft ring involving bogus credit-card purchases and corrupt UPS delivery drivers.
