EISNER TOPPS WEB OF DIGITAL CONTENT

Suddenly, Michael Eisner is everywhere.

The former Walt Disney Co. leader followed up last week’s $385 million takeover offer of baseball card company Topps by announcing yesterday the launch of Vuguru, a new multimedia studio that will create original programming for the Internet, mobile, wireless and other digital platforms.

The Topps and Vuguru deals dovetail nicely with two other investments by Eisner’s Tornante Co. The firm’s investment in Team Baby Entertainment feeds into the Topps deal – kids can graduate from the team-specific sports DVDs that Team Baby produces to the baseball-card memorabilia churned out by Topps.

Vuguru fits perfectly with Eisner’s backing of Veoh Networks, the online video network focused specifically on professionally produced content.

Eisner told The Post that content coming out of Vuguru will be distributed on various Web sites, including YouTube, but will be powered by Veoh’s technology.

Since advertising is the the driver of Vuguru’s revenue, Eisner said it is essential to make brands aware of both the content and platform.
