AMISH-MURDER WIDOW FINDS LOVE

The widow of the homicidal milkman who murdered five Amish schoolgirls has found love again and is planning to remarry as early as the fall.

Marie Roberts, 29, met her new beau shortly after the tragedy, when the insurance salesman came to her Pennsylvania home to drop off blankets that the women in his office made for her three children.

“His co-workers were always making blankets for different ones that needed help,” said Lloyd Welk, Roberts’ grandfather.

“They wondered about the children here . . . and he was elected to bring down the blankets.”

Marie had been devastated after her husband, Charles Carl Roberts IV, walked into a one-room schoolhouse in Nickel Mines, Pa., on Oct. 2 and went on a killing spree.

But she and her new beau, a divorced father of two, hit it off immediately.

“He met Marie and the children and they went in the yard and played and got along,” said Welk.

They’re talking of marriage in October. “That will be a year from when Charles went bad,” Welk said.
