‘SORRY’ FOX APOLOGIZES FOR ‘IDOL’ DVR FOUL UP

FOX is apologizing to hundreds of thousands of fans who missed the climactic moment of this

week’s “American Idol” finale because the show ran over its allotted two hours.

Unsuspecting viewers got home last Wednesday night believing they could catch up with the winner

of “Idol” – only to find that the recordings cut off three minutes before Jordin Sparks’ name was announced.

The show ended at 10:09 p.m. in New York – with Jordin and her family in tears of joy at her win.

DVR users were in a fury the following day, writing and phoning Fox to complain.

“We’re sorry that DVR users may have missed the conclusion of the “American Idol” broadcast,” the

network said yesterday in a prepared statement.

“It was always our intention to bring the show in on time, but just as with any live sports, variety, awards or entertainment event, there is no way to absolutely guarantee that the show will end exactly on the hour.

“Fox and the producers apologize to those viewers who were inconvenienced.”

More than 30 million viewers watched the final episode of “Idol” this year.
