SECONDS FROM DISASTER

The FDNY today released a new video taken at the scene of the steam blast that rocked Midtown Wednesday.

The black and white time-lapse video shows a tow truck driven by Gregory McCullough heading up Lexington Avenue at 5:57 P.M., and the explosion that engulfed the truck and sent Midtown into temporary chaos.

McCollough, 21, had been on his way back to his tow truck depot in Bay Ridge from the Bronx when he got stuck at the light on Lexington where the earth erupted, sending a geyser of steam and debris hundreds of feet into the air.

A student at John Jay College, McCullough suffered serious burns over 80 percent of his body and is listed in critical condition at the Cornell burn unit at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
