KROFT SPACE

Steve Kroft and his family are ditching the controversial Apthorp rental after buying a co-op apartment a few blocks away.

The “60 Minutes” correspondent and his journalist/author wife, Jennet Conant, have just bought a six-room co-op on West 79th Street for $2.7 million.

Included in their new digs, just steps from Riverside Park, are two bedrooms, an office/library, a maid’s room, a wood-burning fireplace, high ceilings and park and river views.

The Krofts and their young son have been living at the Apthorp – where rents have skyrocketed (to the point that Cyndi Lauper successfully sued for a reduction) – and where half of the units are reportedly slated to become condominiums after Israeli developer Lev Leviev bought a portion of the building, sight unseen.

The more stable prewar co-op building where the Krofts recently closed was listed by Sharon Baum of the Corcoran Group, who could not be reach for comment.

Fit for a Prince

Artist and photographer Richard Prince has added a new place to inspire his sought-after works. This time his new canvas is a Hamptons summer home in Wainscott.

Sources say Prince has paid $9.7 million for a five-bedroom, 5,000-square-foot traditional home with a gourmet kitchen, pool and ocean views from the second-floor master bedroom. The 2-acre property, which includes an apple orchard, overlooks a horse farm and other serene vistas.

Broker Laura White had the listing, while her fellow Corcoran Group colleague Cee Scott Brown represented Prince.

‘Order’ out

Fetching “Law & Order: SVU” detective Mariska Hartigay has collared a buyer for her downtown penthouse apartment – but not without knocking almost a third off the asking price.

The actress and daughter of the late screen siren Jayne Mansfield, has sold her three-bedroom, 21/2-bath Beach Street duplex for $5.1 million, according to city transfers.

Hartigay, who shared the apartment with her husband, actor/writer Peter Hermann, and the couple’s year-old son, first listed the unit last February for nearly $6.5 million. They then slashed the price multiple times before it was snapped up at a $1.4 million discount.

Elizabeth Lee Sample and Brenda Powers of Brown Harris Stevens were the listing brokers.

Vijay day

Add Vijay Singh to the list of notables who own residences on Further Lane.

The well-compensated pro golfer, who joins Jerry Seinfeld, Tommy Hilfiger and Ron Baron as neighbors, has paid $9.5 million for a six-bedroom home on just over 2 acres on a private lane off the pricey East Hampton thoroughfare.

Inside the 7,000-square-foot main house is a media room, gourmet kitchen, wine cellar and great room with beamed ceilings and the latest high-tech lighting and sound systems.

The level wooded property, which backs up to the still-vacant 8.5-acre oceanfront land owned by Yahoo! Chairman Terry Semel, has a pool and pool house, but no putting green – yet.

And we already know that the property is a great place for entertaining, since media mogul Jason Binn, the son of the seller, Moreton Binn, has hosted a few parties there – including one shindig where Kool & the Gang performed.
