BUYING EAGLES AT MINNY MAUL

Adding to his stuffed trophy case, The Wildcat captured first place over more than 50 foes in the 2006-07 edition of Playbook’s long-running Wise Guys contest with an overall record of 23-11 ATS (including 16-2 on top plays, and closing with 11 in a row). Including the 1997-2006 seasons in The Post, Cat’s 12-year record in print stands at 332-270 (55.1 percent) against the spread.

TOMORROW

TEXAS A&M (+21/2) over Kansas: For a basketball school, Jayhawks are staging one nifty football season, posting seven wins off the top. Beating Kansas State in Manhattan three weeks ago was impressive. The rest? Eh . . . whippings of Central Michigan, SE Louisiana, Toledo, Florida International, Baylor and your Aunt Lucy. Such scheduling can do wonders for puffing up defensive statistics, but Kansas State scored 24 on Mark Mangino’s crew, proving a competent offense can do business. With Oklahoma, Missouri and Texas still to play, A&M (+21/2) responds to urgent need to make hay now, for one unit.

SUNDAY

Eagles (-1) over VIKINGS: If Adrian Peterson doesn’t rack up Rookie of the Year acclamation off the sensational freshman season he’s staging, the fix is in. Peterson’s brilliant and resilient running serves to distract the casual viewer from the multiplicity of flaws the Vikings are heir to. Tarvaris Jackson and his broken finger will likely start at QB for Minny. Jackson’s no bargain, and the cupboard’s bare behind him. Long-established Eagle professionalism away from home (and solid rushing D) will stand Philly (-1) in good stead as it rebounds from devastating home loss to Bears. One unit.

LAST WEEK: 2-0 (plus two units). Nebraska football program a smoking ruin (Texas A&M, plus one unit). Kay Cee extended Oakland’s unparalleled divisional futility (Chiefs, plus one unit).

SEASON: 9-6-1 (plus two units).
