THE DEVECCHIO TAPES

Track 1

In this clip, reporters Tom Robbins and Jerry Capeci discuss the fatal Halloween 1989 shooting of an innocent teen, Dominick Masseria, by four kids, including Linda Schiro’s son Joey and his best friend Patrick Porco. Schiro goes on to say that then-FBI agent Lindley came to her home the following May to warn her boyfriend, Gregory “The Grim Reaper” Scar pa, that Porco was set to rat on Joey.

Track 2

Here, Robbins and Capeci discuss how a niece of Scarpa complained to him during a Thanksgiving dinner that her boss at a school bus company, Larry Lampasi, was going tough on her. According to Schiro, Scarpa’s niece gave “The Grim Reaper” Lampasi’s address and morning routine, and Scarpa said “I’ll take care of it.” In court, Schiro claimed it was DeVecchio who got the info on Lampasi. Lampasi was shot to death in May 1992.

Track 3

Schiro repeats the school bus story, denying an alternate version in which Scarpa kills Lampasi over a letter naming Scarpa as an informant.

Track 4

Schiro tells the reporters about the 1987 killing of Joseph “Joe Brewster” DeDomenico, a protégé of Scarpa’s. She insists the killing was over the fact that DeDomenico had found religion, gotten into drugs, and was refusing to commit murders. Asked specifically about DeVecchio’s involvement, Schiro says he had nothing to do with the killing. In court, Schiro said DeVecchio told Scarpa that DeDomenico had to be taken out because he might talk.
