PARK IS FLUSH WITH EXCITEMENT

What a relief!

The first of 20 new public street toilets is up in Madison Square Park, and could be flushing by year’s end.

The chic silver-bullet-like building near the Shake Shack was the talk of the park yesterday – though more than a few strollers said they felt like the city was yanking their chain.

“I’d rather go to Starbucks than use this thing,” groused a 19-year-old Baruch student.

Others complained the toilet would eventually stink and ruin the well-kept park.

“It’s one thing if you’re running a marathon or working at a construction site and have to use the bathroom,” said Jenny Gregory. “But there’s enough grossness on the streets of Manhattan already.”

A source said the Department of Transportation is taking its time with the project.

“It’s the first one, so everyone’s being very, very cautious,” said the source.

Mayor Bloomberg is in China, so odds are the DOT is waiting for him to return for the ceremonial first flush.
