NOT everyone in New York wears jeans to the theater. Some come dressed to the nines – in velvet frocks, patentleather shoes and the occasional tiara. Maybe because those theatergoers tend to be under 9.
Since “The Little Mermaid” opened last week, the Disney demographic has been out in droves – no matter what those (older, male) critics have written. And whatever the weather, they’re putting their best Mary Jane-shod feet forward to see their beloved Ariel, live.
Who knows? Maybe these now-and-future theatergoers will go their elders one better – by turning off their cellphones.
