ISLES DOWN 3 D’S

Islanders’ owner Charles Wang said he is pleased his team has won three of its last four and is solidly in the middle of the Eastern Conference playoff race.

“I think we’re doing a heck of a job here,” said Wang, who was at the Nassau Coliseum yesterday watching two youth teams from China, part of his Project Hope.

The Islanders are playing solid hockey, despite a recent rash of injuries that likely will leave them without their top three defensemen when they play host to the Flyers tonight (7 p.m., FSN, WBBR-1130 AM). Brendan Witt (ankle) and Radek Martinek (leg) already were out when Chris Campoli (shoulder) was forced to leave during Wednesday’s 3-1 win against the Devils. Aaron Johnson, who also has been rehabbing a knee injury, will fill a roster spot.
