STILL TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE

Well, that didn’t take long.

Not 24 hours after Barack Obama announced that Hillary Clinton would be America’s next secretary of State, Bill Clinton e-mailed Hillary supporters . . . an invitation to give her more campaign money.

The e-mail includes a big red “CONTRIBUTE” button that takes readers to a Web page where they can give a nice donation “designated for the 2008 primary election debt retirement.”

There’s nothing illegal here, of course. Improper is something else.

You’d think the former First Couple would be very careful about doing anything that seemed untoward on the fund-raising front. Guess again.

This isn’t quite “selling” the office of secretary of State – as the Clintons did the Lincoln Bedroom back in the day.

But it sure brings back memories of other Clinton pastimes:

* Turning public service into opportunities for personal aggrandizement? Check.

* Transforming anything into a fund-raising opportunity? Yep.

* Embarrassing the institution of the presidency – even if neither is president this time around? Sure, why not?

Buckle up, Mr. President-elect.

It’s going to be a bumpy ride.
