‘OFFICE’ SCORES POST-SUPER BOWL SLOT

“The Office” has won this year’s Super Bowl sweepstakes.

NBC has scheduled an hour-long episode of the Steve Carell sitcom to air directly after Super Bowl XLIII – giving “The Office” TV’s biggest lead-in audience of the year.

Last year’s Super Bowl, which aired on Fox, averaged a record 97.5 million viewers who watched the Giants beat the previously undefeated Patriots.

Fox gave the plum post-game slot to “House.”

NBC, which is airing the Big Game for the first time since 1998, was originally going to air an episode of “The Office” followed by its spinoff, but scuttled those plans.
