HIXON KNOWS HOW TO FORGET

Domenik Hixon was a safety in college at Akron, so he knows something about having a short memory and not allowing a bad play to get him down.

That experience should serve him well this week after his key drop of what could have been an 85-yard touchdown catch-and-run in the 20-14 loss to the Eagles.

PLAY POST PICK ‘EM

“That’s the tough thing in football, life in general, is getting over the negative,” Hixon said yesterday. “You have to turn the page, don’t let the negative in the past mess with you in the present or future. If you let that mess with you for the rest of the season, that’s not a good thing. Obviously, you don’t want it to happen, you want to catch every ball, want to make every play. That wasn’t the case. You got to turn the page and move on.”

Hixon got past cornerback Sheldon Brown but allowed Eli Manning’s perfect pass to drop directly through his arms. He studied the play and determined he “didn’t look the ball all the way in.”

“That’s something elementary that I let slip by that in essence was a big play in the game,” he said. “I can’t let my fundamentals get away from me.”

Hixon did not practice because of issues with his ankle and foot but he said he plans on working today.

CB Aaron Ross (ankle) was able to practice on a limited basis. Not working were DE Justin Tuck (lower leg), RT Kareem McKenzie (back) and LB Jonathan Goff (hamstring).

Eight Cowboys did not practice, including TE Jason Witten (ankle), RB Marion Barber (toe), WR Roy Williams (foot) and S Ken Hamlin (foot). Reports out of Dallas state CB Adam Jones (neck) might be out for the remainder of the season. He returned last week after missing six games while in alcohol rehab.

Not surprisingly, the Giants decided not to pay the remaining $1 million portion of the $4.25 million signing bonus to suspended Plaxico Burress. That final installment was due to be paid yesterday, but the Giants did not make it.

The NFL Players Association has already filed a grievance on behalf of Burress with regard to the suspension and will file another claim about the unpaid $1 million bonus.
