WINNER GETS IT ‘RIGHT’

SOMEBODY got the price really, really right on “The Price is Right.”

A contestant named Terry nailed the price $23,743 – to the dollar – of the final showcase and won both major prizes, a 17-foot camping trailer and a round-the-world trip, together worth more than $56,000.

Nobody has achieved such a feat since the 1970s, but you wouldn’t have known it by the blasé reaction of host Drew Carey.

He very calmly told the contestant the price, smiled and said that the man had won both showcases, his and one valued at more than $31,000 that another contestant, Sharon had been bidding on.

As this happened, a ’70s-style “Double Showcase” graphic flashed on the screen and Terry’s family rushed onto the stage to hug him.

Then the show ended.

The bizarre ending had fans of the show scratching their heads yesterday. Some even accused Terry of cheating, although he looked genuinely stunned when Carey broke the news that he had pulled off an achievement not seen in more than 30 years.

“I’m . . . very disappointed with Drew Carey’s actions on the show today,” wrote about.com gameshow blogger, Carrie Grosvernor. “Even though there might have been some controversy surrounding Terry’s big win, Carey killed the moment.”
