KIKI DENIES KNICK JOB CHAT

Nets executive Kiki Vandeweghe said yesterday a report he had a discussion with Knicks brass about their potential presidency vacancy is erroneous, adding, “The whole thing is totally false.”

Vandeweghe, special assistant to Nets team president Rod Thorn, adamantly denied he spoke with Garden president Steve Mills on Tuesday night at the Apollo Theater about the potential opening.

A report erroneously stated Mills and Vandeweghe attended a private screening of “Black Magic” together and sat with each other. Mills sat with assistant coach Herb Williams, NBA employee Mike Bantom, publicist Dan Klores, and others.

Vande weghe told The Post last night he never took a seat, instead standing in the back of the theater with NBA employee Adam Silver.

“I’m focused on what I’m doing here and that [talking to Knicks] would not be appropriate,” Vandeweghe said. “I never spoke to anybody at the Knicks about their job. [The report] has no basis in fact.”

James Dolan reportedly has considered keeping Isiah Thomas as coach and hiring a GM/president.

Vandeweghe would want the top job, however, according to a league executive/confidant, and he’s been mentioned as a candidate for months. “That’s a job of high interest to him because his father played there, he played there,” the league executive said. “He’s got experience cleaning up bad cap situations [in Denver].”
