METS GOING GREEN AT NEW HOME

Baseball is a game of stats like no other, but Mets officials and Mayor Bloomberg yesterday reeled off numbers not usually associated with the sport – 270 waterless urinals, 65,000 square feet of porous pavers, 15,000 square feet of green roof.

Those were just some of the figures promoting the “green” features of the Mets’ $800 million future home, due to open in 2009.

“Citi Field will be one of the most environmentally friendly stadiums ever built,” said Bloomberg, who used the occasion to again promote his congestion-pricing plan. Alan Steinberg, the regional EPA administrator, said the stadium would serve as a prototype for all others, and Met officials said about 40 percent of fans take mass transit to Shea Stadium.
