HOW HORNDOG SET THE MOOD

ALBANY – Gov. Spitzer apparently wanted to set the mood with his high-priced call girl with a little music, The Post has learned.

Shortly before his pre-Valentine Day’s Washington, DC, hotel tryst with the call girl now publicly known as “Kristen,” Spitzer asked his aides in the Mayflower Hotel if they had a classical-music CD he could bring to his room, a witness said.

Between 9 and 9:15 p.m. on Feb. 13, Spitzer came down to the hotel bar and asked his contingent of about eight for a CD, which no one had, the witness told The Post.

The governor – normally a rock fan who last year attended a Bruce Springsteen concert in Albany – was said to be wearing a blue sweatshirt and jeans.

“At the time, he claimed it was to help him focus and concentrate,” the source said of Spitzer. “He said he was going to work late into the night.”

The governor was seeking the mood music just minutes before the prostitute arrived at the hotel.

The following morning, Spitzer was to testify before Congress on the bond-market crisis.

“At the time, absent all that we know now, it just seemed like a guy who liked music and wanted to listen to some as he worked,” the source said.

It was the second time the witness had spotted Spitzer in the hotel that night.

Earlier, at about 8:30 p.m., the governor strode into the hotel lobby to speak with some of the state troopers who were with him, the source said.

He introduced himself to two others who were with the troopers, saying, “I’m Eliot,” the witness said.

Shortly after, Spitzer went to the reservation desk, where he spoke with a hotel worker for 15 to 20 minutes, he said. He then left the lobby before soon returning in search of a CD.

Spitzer, according to law-enforcement authorities, met with Kristen in Room 871 shortly after 9:30 p.m.

Investigators had caught the governor on tape, arranging the date with two of the ring’s bookers, Temeka Lewis and Cecil “Katie” Suwal, who’ve been arrested along with two others, authorities said.

Meanwhile, the married father of three reportedly sneaked by his security detail for his expensive rendezvous.

Spitzer registered the room under the name of George Fox, a friend and political donor who is not said to be involved in the scandal.

Kristen was paid roughly $1,000 an hour and was booked by Spitzer for four hours, according to legal papers. The tryst actually lasted just over two hours, and Spitzer left $4,300.
