SURROGATE ARMY BRATS

Platoons of army wives have become surrogate moms – renting out their wombs to supplement the paltry sum their husbands are paid while risking their lives overseas, according to a report.

With just one pregnancy, a surrogate mother with a husband in the armed services can earn up to $25,000, while her spouse makes $16,000 to $29,000 a year as a new enlistee.

“Military wives can’t sink their teeth into a career, because they have to move around so much,” Melissa Brisman, a New Jersey lawyer specializing in reproductive and family issues, told Newsweek.

“. . . Being a carrier only takes a year. That gives them enough time between postings.”
