Hot-shot New York lawyer Joseph Tacopina landed yesterday in Rome, where sources said he remains on the verge of signing a deal that will give him and international financier George Soros ownership of the famed AS Roma soccer team.
A horde of Italian media met Tacopina (above yesterday, with a Roma scarf) at Rome’s Fiumicino International Airport on the heels of The Post’s scoop Wednesday detailing the planned purchase.
Roma fans were ecstatic after reading the new report, which contradicted recent press claims there that Soros was walking away from the deal. Soros would not comment.
Many fans view Soros as key to helping financially strapped Roma land top international players, making the team more competitive with richer Italian and European squads
Sources said they expected the deal to buy Roma’s shares from the Sensi family within days.
