OBAMA’S ‘SPIRITUAL’ PROBLEM

Americans sure must be wondering about Barack Obama‘s “spirit” these days – given the wackiness of his spiritual advisers.

Turns out the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who calls AIDS a government plot and suggests America deserved 9/11, isn’t the only nut-job pastor informing Obama’s moral judgment.

Enter the Rev. Michael Pfleger, who’s tight with Nation of Islam hate-monger Louis Farrakhan and who reportedly once threatened to “snuff out” a Chicago gun-shop owner.

If you haven’t yet caught Pfleger’s dimented impersonation of Obama rival Hillary Clinton on YouTube, you should check it out.

In it, the puerile pulpiteer suggests – in a “sermon” at (of course) Obama’s Trinity United Church of Christ – that Clinton is a racist who thinks she’s “entitled” to be president because she’s white and is outraged at the thought of “a black man stealing my show.”

White himself, he also blames today’s whites for past slavery because, he says (confusing cause and effect), they are “the beneficiaries” of it.

The Obama connection?

Pfleger is a longtime ally, and the Illinois senator once funneled $100,000 in taxpayer funds to a youth center at the church Pfleger runs.

The priest, in turn, penned a glowing “faith testimonial” that the Obama campaign posted on its Web site. (It’s gone now.)

Yes, Obama distanced himself from Wright and rejected Pfleger’s comments.

But that’s now. What about then?

Why embrace such people in the first place? It’s most worrisome.
