GARBAGE SAVES HARLEM TODDLER

A Harlem toddler tumbled 18 feet from her bedroom window yesterday, but suffered mere bumps and bruises when her fall was cushioned by a rubber garbage can lid, authorities said.

“I heard like a thump . . . and she rolled off the garbage lid and that pretty much saved her life,” said Engine 80 Firefighter Anthony Abbatemarco, whose firehouse is next to the girl’s building at 501 W. 139th St. “It was a miracle that she landed” there.

The nearly 2-year-old girl, whose name wasn’t released, was leaning against a baby guard on the second-story window when she crashed through at 5:45 p.m. She was treated at St. Luke’s Hospital.
