TRIBUTE TO WOMAN SCULPTOR CARVES A LEGACY

IN 1982, renowned sculptor Louise Bour geois became the first woman to re ceive a major retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art.

Now, at age 96, Bourgeois is having another 15 minutes of fame: A full-career retro opens today at the Guggenheim, two days after this documentary tribute to the Paris-born artist kicked off at Film Forum.

The biopic is centered around an interview by filmmakers Amei Wallach and the late Marion Cajori. It’s conducted with the feisty Bourgeois at her Brooklyn studio and Manhattan home in 1993.

She rambles on about her childhood, her work and anything else that comes to mind. Remembrances by aides and relatives plus antique photos and close-ups of her work – including her iconic giant spiders – round out the loving film.

Running time: 99 minutes. Not rated (nothing objectionable). At the Film Forum, Houston Street, west of Sixth Avenue.
