BX. COYOTE’S WALK ON THE WILD SIDE

It’s not your typical “collar” in The Bronx yesterday as an Animal Care and Control officer reins in a wily coyote pup that had been meandering through a posh neighborhood.

The cuddly creature – nicknamed “Van Cort” by rescuers – was nabbed at 3 p.m. near Van Cortlandt Park in the driveway of a home on Post Road in Riverdale.

“My guess would be that he was part of a litter. Maybe it was hunting and it got lost,” said Nelson Guzman, the field-operations specialist who caught the canine. The coyote – about 6 months old and weighing 9 pounds – was taken to the animal-care facility on East 110th Street in Manhattan.

Animal Control said the coyote, which had a little scratch above its nose, would likely be taken to an upstate animal sanctuary.
