EIGHT MILES HIGH

YOU are to be forgiven if the name Uschi Obermaier doesn’t ring a bell, but she is remembered in some circles as a 1960s German sex symbol, model and political radical who is said to have slept with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Jimi Hendrix.

Achim Bornhak’s “Eight Miles High” is a shallow account of Obermaier’s drug- and booze-fueled early life. It follows Obermaier from the Munich suburb where she grew up (her mom calls her a “cheap little tart” and her dad says she “looks like a slut”) to her globe-trotting adventures (including a miscarriage) with German playboy Dieter Bockhorn.

Pouting, full-lipped actress Natalia Avelon portrays Obermaier, providing ample full-frontal nudity. I’m not an expert on such matters, but I’d venture that Avelon is naked more often than she is clothed.

Alas, “Eight Miles High” (“Das Wilde Leben” in Germany) has little to offer beyond titillation and pretty landscapes.

As for the real Obermaier, she now lives in California and designs jewelry.

In German, English and Italian, with subtitles. Running time: 114 minutes. Not rated (nudity, sex, drug use). At Cinema Village, 12th Street, east of Fifth Avenue.
