YANKEES SIGN ERIC MILTON TO MINOR LEAGUE CONTRACT

Yankees signed lefty Eric Milton to a minor league contract, assigned him to SWB (Triple-A) and put him on the minor league DL. Milton, the Yankees’ first-round pick in the 1996 draft, is coming back from Tommy John surgery.

Milton, 33 next month, pitched six games for the Reds last year before being injured. In 10 major league seasons he is 87-84. He was part of the package the Yankees sent to the Twins for Chuck Knoblauch prior to the 1998 season and has pitched for the Twins, Reds and Phillies.

“He is trying to get back to the big leagues, we will see how he does,” Joe Girardi said.
