A cabby reportedly suffering a seizure plowed his taxi into a horse-drawn carriage near Central Park yesterday, landing him and the carriage driver in the hospital, police said.
The horse was not hurt in the noon crash at 60th Street and Fifth Avenue.
Witnesses said the taxi ran a red light and smashed into the stone wall surrounding the park.
“I was by The Plaza when I heard the crash,” said pedicab driver Adam Sobzdak, 26. “I saw the cabby on the ground. He was shaking. His head was bleeding.”
The drivers of the taxi and the carriage were treated at New York Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, cops said.
The carriage driver, whose name was not released, had a gash on his head, said Carolyn Daly, spokeswoman for the Horse & Carriage Association of New York.
“He’s been in the business for 30 years. He’s a real horseman,” she said.
Blackie the horse wasn’t even spooked by the accident. He spent the afternoon munching hay back at the Clinton Park Stables in Hell’s Kitchen and the evening enjoying an after-dinner bag of carrots “as a treat,” Daly said.
