Man gunned down at Plaxico shoot club

A man was shot early Monday morning inside the Midtown Manhattan nightclub where former Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress accidentally opened fire on his own leg in 2008, authorities said.

The man was shot in the abdomen at the Latin Quarter nightclub on Lexington Avenue near 47th Street at about 12:30 a.m., cops said. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is expected to survive, the FDNY said. Police are hunting for the shooter.

The man was shot inside the club during a dispute over a woman, law-enforcement sources said.

A Latin Quarter employee who answered the phone denied a shooting took place.

But a doorman at the Raddison Hotel – which is in the same building as the club – confirmed police told him a man was shot but wasn’t going to die.

“I think they are going to shut the club down. I hope they do. It’s not worth it,” the worker said.

“They are supposed to pat people down and all that, but they don’t. It’s always an inside job. Someone says they know someone and get in no problem.”

Ten months after Burress caught a game-winning touchdown pass in the 2008 Super Bowl to win one of the greatest upsets in sports history for the Giants, he accidentally shot himself in the leg while walking up stairs inside the Latin Quarter.

Burress spent 21 months in prison on an illegal gun charge and now plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
