‘Bachelor’ Gia’s mom speaks out

The mother of ex-“Bachelor” contestant Gia Allemand, who committed suicide, says she was on the phone with her daughter when she tried to hang herself.

On Tuesday’s “Dr. Phil” (3 p.m./Ch. 2), Donna Micheletti tells Phil McGraw that the two were talking Aug. 12 when Allemand, 29, hung herself in her New Orleans apartment.

“I’m the closest person in the world to her and she didn’t want to be alone when she left his world,” Micheletti tells McGraw. “So she wanted Mommy to be there, I guess.”

Allemand was found unconscious by her boyfrend and died two days later. “I’m really mad that she did this for no reason,” Micheletti says. “In 12 hours it would have been fine.”

Allemand appeared on “The Bachelor” in 2010 and on its spinoff, “Bachelor Pad.”
