Student told to turn Yankees shirt inside out

BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. — A fourth-grader in the Syracuse suburbs has found out first-hand about the heated rivalry between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox.

Nathan Johns says when he showed up in class this week wearing a Yankees T-shirt, his teacher at Van Buren Elementary School told him to go to the bathroom and turn it inside out. He complied and said he was later told to wear it that way until school let out.

Johns says he thought his teacher, Peter Addabbo, was kidding at first but then realized he wasn’t because Addabbo has Boston Red Sox paraphernalia all over the classroom on display.

Baldwinsville Schools Superintendent Jeanne Dangle says the district is investigating and will get back to the family in a few days.
