Green-clad group protests Ahmadinejad near UN

Hundreds of people have gathered near the United Nations to protest Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and claim that his June election victory was fraudulent.

Protesters created a sea of green at Wednesday’s rally, donning T-shirts, scarves and face paint in the opposition’s signature color to show support for pro-reform challenger Mir Hossein Mousavi.

Many protesters covered their faces to avoid being photographed.

One of them is 21-year-old Amir Arani. He said he came to the U.S. from Iran in June to go to school.

Arani says he was in Iran for the election and believes it was “a big fraud.”

He says: “Wherever I am, I will be in the streets again and again, until I die. Our president is not Ahmadinejad.”
