Mikhail Prokhorov, the billionaire would-be Nets owner, is a jet-setting, model-dating, free-spending, party-loving playboy — and purported purveyor of prostitutes.
He’s also Russia’s most eligible bachelor — a title he’s also likely to claim in New York.
Worth an estimated $9.5 billion, mining tycoon Prokhorov, 44, is Russia’s richest man.
Often surrounded by beautiful women, he’s reported to have dated Keniya Sobchak, the “Paris Hilton of Russia,” as well as supermodel Naomi Campbell.
Three years ago, rumor was rampant that Prokhorov had planned a $10 million wedding in the Maldives to an unnamed bride — whom he would then divorce a week later — just to collect on a childhood bet that he’d marry before he turned 42. The wedding never happened.
He divides his time between Moscow, the Riviera, St. Tropez and the French ski resort of Courchevel. Prokhorov was at his chalet in Courchevel in 2007 when he was busted for allegedly hiring Russian hookers to service his guests.
He was released uncharged.
An NBA source said league brass will review the incident, along with the rest of Prokhorov’s background, before any deal is approved.
