Motive in Travolta ‘extortion’

NASSAU, Bahamas — An ambulance driver believed he had John Travolta over a barrel and wanted big bucks to keep embarrassing medical records secret, a witness testified yesterday.

Allyson Maynard Gibson said she spoke with fellow lawyer Pleasant Bridgewater, who was representing paramedic Tarino Lightbourne.

Bridgewater and Lightbourne are on trial for extortion.

Gibson said, “It was [Lightbourne’s] view that either Travolta wanted his son dead or he was negligent.”

Travolta’s 16-year-old son, Jett, died Jan. 2 at the family’s vacation home.

The actor had signed a waiver holding paramedics harmless if they took the him to the airport instead of the local hospital.

Travolta originally had wanted to fly Jett to Florida for treatment.
