Hospital patient raped by male nurse’s aide: police

A man being treated at a Staten Island hospital was drugged and then raped by a male nurse’s aide, the victim and police sources said.

The 37-year-old patient was recuperating from pneumonia at Richmond University Medical Center when the alleged attack occurred on Wednesday, the sources said Saturday.

The aide is believed to have ordered a big dose of Benadryl for the patient, which made him groggy.

“He asked one of the nurses to give me something to help me sleep,” the patient told The Post. “He waited for it to take effect and then he told me to come to the bathroom.’’

The man said he was pushed against a wall and sodomized, adding, “It happened quick. I was too messed up on medication to do anything about it.”

The hospital said it suspended the suspect and is cooperating with the police.
