Gooden in ‘drugged driving’

Former star pitcher Dwight “Doc” Gooden was charged in New Jersey with driving under the influence of drugs when he got into a car crash — with his 5-year-old son in the back seat, police said.

Gooden, 45, also was charged with leaving the scene of an accident at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday at 8:50 a.m. after the two-vehicle crash in Franklin Lakes as he drove his son to school, said Lt. John Bakelaar.

The former Mets and Yankees pitcher, who has had a long battle with drugs, was also charged with child endangerment.

He was released on his own recognizance.

Gooden’s son “bumped his head because he was unrestrained in the back seat, but no medical treatment was required” for the boy, Bakelaar said.

Gooden identified himself to the other driver “and drove away,” Bakelaar said. The other driver called 911.
