‘Clear’ path to recycle change

Add plastic yogurt cups and clear takeout containers to a long list of new items New Yorkers will soon have to recycle under a sweeping legislative package the City Council plans to introduce Wednesday.

The recycling bills, which sources say are favored by Mayor Bloomberg, would also expand the list to include flower pots and medicine bottles, among other items, Council Speaker Christine Quinn said yesterday.

Fines would increase for commercial and residential buildings whose tenants flout recycling laws. The council anticipates fast-tracking the legislative agenda with a hearing later this month.
