Cop link in tamper bust

The NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau is trying to determine if a cop hurt in a weekend brawl at a Bay Ridge bar was friends with a computer technician charged with doctoring a surveillance videotape of the incident, a defense lawyer said yesterday.

Arthur Adalia, who represents two suspects arrested in the case, claims Jasmin Pontic, 27, knew Paul Aparo, the off-duty cop who said he was hit with a bottle inside the Kettle Black Bar early Sunday.

Pontic, employed by Vanguard Computer Systems, was charged with tampering with physical evidence and obstructing governmental administration for erasing a minute of footage that Adelia insists showed Aparo running from the bar with his shirt off.

Adalia said that he believed that Pontic deleted the footage as a favor to Aparo.

A Port Authority cop suffered a broken jaw and a firefighter’s arm was slashed in the melee.
