Brits Open to Woods heckling

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Royal & Ancient chief executive Peter Dawson said yesterday that it has no plans for added security for Tiger Woods when he plays the British Open July 15-18 at St. Andrews.

Dawson also said that fans will not be removed from the Old Course if they heckle Woods over his extramarital affairs.

“As long as it’s not intrusive to the game or the championship then people can say what they like,” Dawson said in a conference call. “We’re not a police state here. But if [the galleries] start putting players off, then we’ll have something to say about that.”

Woods has not yet entered the Open, which he has won twice at St. Andrews, but he is expected to play. The deadline to enter is May 27.
