‘Jersey’ cast is a ‘Shore’ thing

MTV yesterday threw cold water on reports that it was set to hire an entire new cast for “Jersey Shore.”

“Rumors have been circulating this week that the entire cast of the popular reality show are being replaced,” said a report posted on the network’s Web site. “But MTV can confirm this is not true.”

A spokesman confirmed that the network has been looking for some “new characters” to add to the cast.

But “Snooki, The Situation, Pauly D, and all the others are here to stay,” the report said.

The network took its time dispelling rumors about the now-famous cast being out of a job after the latest season airs.

Reports of a wholesale cast change began to surface more than a week ago.

Speculation is that the show’s stars, worried about their job security, asked for a public show of support from MTV.

The second season of “Jersey Shore” is being shot now in Miami.
