GOLF: Scott emerges from 36-hole Texas finish

In San Antonio, Australia’s Adam Scott made the Texas Open his first PGA Tour victory in two years, shooting a combined 11-under 133 in a 36-hole finale to edge Fredrik Jacobson by a stroke. Scott overcame two early bogeys with an eagle on the par-4 17th in his third-round 66, then built his lead with six birdies en route to a closing 67.

* In Mobile, Ala., Se Ri Pak birdied on the third playoff hole at No. 18 to beat Brittany Lincicome in a rain-shortened Bell Micro LPGA Classic.

* In Hoover, Ala., Dan Forsman made an eagle and four straight birdies on the way to winning the Regions Charity Classic by three strokes. . . . In Son Servera, Balearic Islands, Sweden’s Peter Hanson beat Alejandro Canizares in a playoff to win the European Tour’s Mallorca Open.

MLB: Dodgers stay hot with shutout

In San Diego, Russell Martin‘s RBI single was one of only two hits for the Dodgers, who beat the first-place Padres for a three-game sweep and their season-high seventh straight victory.

* In Detroit, Ramon Santiago hit a two-run homer and Armando Galarraga was sharp in his first start of the season, helping the Tigers beat the Red Sox 5-1.

* Brewers pitcher Doug Davis was diagnosed with pericarditis, an inflammation of the tissue surrounding his heart, a condition that is treatable but could keep him out about two weeks.

LACROSSE: Emotional win for Virginia women

In Charlottesville, Va., with memories of their slain teammate everywhere, the Virginia women’s lacrosse team played for the first time since the death of Yeardley Love and the Cavaliers rallied in the last four minutes to beat Towson 14-12 and reach the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament. The players wore shirts under their jerseys with the phrase “One Team. One Heart. One Love.”

ETC.: Nadal topples Federer in final

In Madrid, Rafael Nadal won a record 18th Masters title by beating Roger Federer 6-4, 7-6 (5) in the Madrid final. Nadal moved one Masters title ahead of Andre Agassi. He will return to No. 2 in today’s rankings. In the women’s final, Venus Williams was beaten 6-2, 7-5 by unseeded Aravane Rezai.

* Barcelona retained the Spanish league title, crushing Valladolid 4-0 at Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona to win the championship for a 20th time. . . . In Siena, Inter Milan beat Siena 1-0 to seal its fifth consecutive Serie A title.
