Freddy ‘Sez’ dead

Freddy “Sez” Schuman, the longtime Yankees fan who encouraged the Yankee Stadium crowd to cheer by banging on a frying pan with a spoon, died yesterday at Lenox Hill Hospital. He was 85.

Schuman, who had a heart attack on Friday, was known around the ballpark as “Freddy Sez.” For 22 years, he was seen walking around the stadium, usually carrying an inspirational message for the Yankees written on a white posterboard.

Schuman was last at the Stadium for Game 3 of the ALDS against the Twins.
