Jets’ Revis headed to Denver; uncertain whether he’ll play Sunday

Darrelle Revis is going to Denver this weekend. Whether he’ll play for the Jets against the Broncos on Sunday has yet to be determined.

But Rex Ryan said yesterday he plans to take both Revis and linebacker Calvin Pace on the trip and determine whether they’ll play once they get there.

“After talking to Darrelle, we’re going to take him to Denver, one way or the other, because he wants to be with his team, whether he can play or not,” Ryan said. “And that’s where I want him, also. Hopefully he’ll be ready to play.”

Revis and Pace, after not participating in practice other than some individual drills on Wednesday, were limited in yesterday’s practice, which was an upgrade.

REVIS GETS SPEEDING TICKET

Pace, whose surgically repaired foot was sore for two days after the Monday night game, said yesterday, “I’ll be fine; I’ll be ready to play. I won’t be in that trainer’s room, so I definitely will be playing.”

Revis’ situation is a little more precarious because his left hamstring was aggravated by playing Monday. Ryan has to decide whether or not to rest him against Denver then use the bye week next week as added time to heal.

Revis, though, “looked good” in practice yesterday, according to Ryan and several defensive players, including Drew Coleman.

Ryan did say, “It’s too early to say he’s definitely going to play. I’m still not comfortable with [saying] that. I told the defensive coaches to prepare like he’s not playing and then off of a sudden it’s kind of a boost [if] he is playing.”

Defensive coordinator Mike Pettine said, “We’re prepared to go without him. If we get him, it’s a luxury.”

Ryan said he’d “absolutely” consider using Revis in a limited role, saying, “We’ll look at all the possibilities.”

Regarding using Revis part time, Pettine said the defense is “prepared to go in any direction.”

One definite is the fact the Broncos will be throwing the ball a lot considering the fact they have a poor running game and have averaged 50 passes per game over the past three weeks.

If Revis does not start, Coleman will take his place and likely draw Denver receiver Eddie Royal, and Antonio Cromartie covers Brandon Lloyd, who leads the NFL with 589 receiving yards.
