Illinois Gov. inspired by ‘Glee’ in latest campaign attack ad

Illinois Democratic Governor Pat Quinn stole a page from the “Glee” songbook in a new political ad — which will begin airing Tuesday — that attacks his Republican challenger, Illinois state Senator Bill Brady.

The ad mimics the FOX high school musical show’s “Here’s what you missed” recap that starts each episode.

“Too busy watching ‘Glee’ to keep up with the Governor’s race. Here’s what you missed,” the fast-talking narrator says.

The ad then provides an outline of the alleged positions taken by Brady to date in the campaign.

The ad attacks Brady’s vote to use gas chambers to kill animals, accuses him of trying to repeal civil rights for homosexuals, claims he failed to pay taxes and says he “drinks tea” with former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Fox News host Glenn Beck and former Fla. Gov. Jeb Bush.

“And that’s what you missed — vote Pat Quinn,” the narrator concludes.

Quinn was the sitting lieutenant governor and became governor on January 29, 2009, when Rod Blagojevich was impeached and removed from office.

The race has tightened considerably in the last few weeks. The Real Clear Politics Average of recent polls currently shows Quinn trailing Brady 43 percent to 39 percent.
