Sit. Roll over. Get stabbed.
Some East Village dog owners have armed themselves with knives and other weapons after a recent series of attacks on pooches by pit bulls in the Tompkins Square Park dog run.
“Whenever I walk Jesse, I have a kitchen knife in my pocket,” actor John Juback told the Web site DNAinfo.com.
He said a pit bull bit both him and his foxhound-terrier mix in October.
“If I was in the same situation again, I would stab the pit bull,” he said. “I will not stand there and watch my dog potentially be killed.”
The Web site quoted a member of the group that maintains the park’s dog run saying more than a dozen people are now carrying weapons.
East Village resident Ethan Coleman, 28, told The Post his German shepherd, Jackson, was attacked in March by a pit bull, resulting in $500 in vet bills.
“I stopped going to the park,” he said.
Another local, Daniel Cammarata, 27, said he racked up a $1,100 vet bill after a pit bull bit Zephyr, his Labrador.
“This is definitely the most aggressive dog park in the city,” he said.
But Clara Pergitzer, a 26-year-old biologist who walks her shepherd mix, Arvo, said, “I’d never carry a weapon. It’s crazy to even think about it. If you’re that scared, don’t bring your dog to the park.”
A Parks Department spokesman said the agency is working with the NYPD and community groups about the problem.
