Zooey Deschanel sues Steve Madden for $2M

Actress Zooey Deschanel sued shoemaker Steve Madden Friday claiming the company owes her $2 million in a deal to promote the footwear, TMZ reported.

Deschanel, 30, claims the New York-based based company agreed to pay her $2 million to use her name in connection with the shoes, according to the lawsuit filed at the Los Angeles Superior Court.

They later re-negotiated the deal down to $1.5 million when Madden came back the actress saying he had failed to get retailers to back the deal.

“The Yes Man” star said she was never paid after holding up her end of the bargain, including turning down other deals.

She claims she’s owed her fee, plus a percentage of the profits.

Steve Madden did not return calls for comment.
